L’Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA)
Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA): Aiming for ACA Level 4
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutional certification programme for carbon management at airports, with measurable results. The ACA programme is voluntary and is run by Airport Council International (ACI). It recognises and accredits airports’ initiatives in the management and reduction of carbon emissions, taking into account the site’s operational activities, through a six-level certification system: mapping, reduction, optimisation, neutrality, transformation and transition.
Building on its ISO 14001 certification (renewed in 2025) and having achieved Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 3 in 2022, Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport is officially committing to the stringent criteria of Level 4 in 2026.
This initiative is fully in line with VINCI Airports’ AirPact environmental strategy, which aims to achieve ‘net-zero emissions’ across all European airports by 2030. Level 4 marks the transition to a systemic transformation of the value chain, characterised by an absolute carbon reduction target aligned with scientific evidence, comprehensive emissions accounting (Scope 3) and the implementation of a Partnership Plan involving all stakeholders at the airport.

ISO 14011 certification
Since 2019, Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport has been ISO 14001 certified by an external body. The certification was last renewed in 2022.
Protecting biodiversity
As part of its commitment to protecting the environment, Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport has installed 3 beehives on site, in partnership with the Union nationale de l'apiculture française (UNAF). Each year, the honey produced by the bees is bottled and distributed to airport employees.
This attention to biodiversity is also reflected in the differentiated management of green spaces, favouring late mowing to preserve the ecosystems present on site.
Finally, preserving biodiversity also means disseminating knowledge and raising awareness among the general public and employees. With this in mind, a travelling exhibition on biodiversity, in particular the bird species present at the French airport sites in the VINCI Airports network (e.g. Skylark, Whimbrel, Goldfinch), was held at Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport in 2022.

Since 2016, VINCI Airports has initiated a proactive environmental approach across its entire network of airports worldwide and is a committed player in meeting the challenge of decarbonisation.
VINCI Airports' environmental policy focuses on three major areas :
- Reducing carbon emissions
- Saving energy
- Preserving biodiversity and natural resources
The ambition for 2030 :
- Actions to reduce our emissions within the scope of airport activities (energy-efficient renovation of infrastructure, LED relamping, electric runway equipment, etc.);
- Offsetting residual emissions through carbon sink projects;
- Halving water consumption;
- Achieving zero landfill waste through recycling and material recovery;
- Promoting and preserving biodiversity;
- Certify all airports ISO 14001.
This global and ambitious approach has already resulted in a 44% reduction in gross CO² emissions between 2018 and 2022.
